I'm going to miss uber

ber.com - Mariposa Blogs http://SalutMariposa.uber.com Uber is a free and easy way to get what you want from the web. en Thu, 25 Sep 2008 09:16:39 -0400 Wed, 24 Sep 2008 19:22:54 -0400 I'm leaving for California tomorrow! http://SalutMariposa.uber.com/blogs/Im_leaving_for_California_tomorrow.html

I'm excited and a bit nervous...I'm going to be basically hitchhiking the whole way.
That's right, I said "hitchhiking". Now if your like my parents or my boyfriend I know exactly what your thinking.
"ARE YOU INSANE?"

My friend Ryan told me to stop reading hippie books. I laughed and replied that this came from a man who loves Jack Kerouac's On the Road. He smirked and reminded me that this isn't the 50's.
I have everything packed. I'm not changing my mind, I know that this isn't the golden era of thumbs up, and hopping on trains anymore but it's okay. I'm hitchhiking the modern way...The Craig's list way.
Now please note that I'm not condoning this at all.
I'm pretty sure...In fact, I know this is dangerous but I've always been a free spirit. A stubborn one at that, just ask my boyfriend who ran to the store and bought me pepper spray because he couldn't change my mind. I can't wait 3 more weeks, I already have a place set up and everything and I need to be there by Tuesday. It's a great deal too, right by Santa Monica. I did find a place in Whittier but it was a bit too far.
My boyfriend is staying to grab his last paycheck, and I am just sick of the small town I'm in...It wouldn't be so bad if there were things to do and see but if it's not summer the place is pretty much dull. A girl can only take so much, dancing and shopping. I need museums, garage band venues, art clubs, fiestas, fairs, concerts ect, ect.

Anyways, I'm pretty anxious. I have mixed feelings on the whole thing. I feel pumped and thrilled at the thought of riding with a stranger, but also weary. I'm going to have my pepper spray right by my the whole time.

But isn't that how you make friends? I mean how many stories have you heard of people backpacking through the U.S.A and having perfect strangers give them a lift? Sure, the main character of those stories were probably men....but I'm not riding with several different drivers, just one. And He's giving my boyfriend his driver's license and plate number, and social security number. He's a really nice guy, I've talked to him several times, and he knows what the situation is...He even scowled me for wanting to hitchhike.

I could sit here and try to justify my actions but it wouldn't work, I'd be lying to myself because there isn't just one reason why...It's a lot more indepth and complex than that.
I'm not quite sure what makes me be this way, but I think the main ingredient and the most important is the dire wanting of knowing I took a chance. I did it, I made it out alive. I was part of an extroadinary road trip, an adventure- what books are made of.

I believe in God, and I know he's going to be watching over me on the trip. I also want to believe in the goodness of people, I need to believe that there are people who don't have a problem helping someone without wanting something in return.

It's one huge plan, and even bigger journey when I get there.
But who knows maybe this guy will be a very good friend to us down the road, and we will all sit for coffee one day and laugh about this whole thing.

See ya guys in LA

Goodbye Florida! See ya Destin!

Art skills updated

If you have seen my graphics then you know I love playing with vectors. They are my favorite graphics to make. Easy, not too bad on the time consuming, and the possibilities are endless! It's also such a great medium to portray emotions or our generation's crazes.
What most of you guys don't know is that I haven't taken any classes. It's all me playing around Photoshop and reading tutorials. Most of the time I just tweak things and make it my own....but I'm proud to announce that after studying and a couple of weeks of practice....I've made a completely original piece using Karlaynzon's picture. She asked me to make something that expressed her style...and I did.
I know I usually make things daily...but this picture is different then the others because I didn't tweak anything which is a lot faster to make and produce. This was made by painstakingly vectoring everything in the photograph.
Anyways Cheers! :)

Scene kids have better hair than you.

I don't know about you...but I have a secret crush on the multicolored locks and extensions on their heads. The rocker me would love to chop part of my hair off, dye the chunks and run around with my face caked with glitter and make-up....
But the other half is much content with the way she is.
I might get a lip ring thought one day....Oh well see about that one too.

Cherries and hooters.

I took these pictures on my trip to Pensacola, Fl. I was busy so I did not have time to edit them right away. If I get a smile out of some of you looking then I did a good job. (You'll get what I mean when you see the Hooters pic)

I like to pretend my sarcasm is clever, lol. ;)

Deep down inside, you still love pokemon.

This was requested by Burningcities.
I didn't think Pokemon was still popular but it's good to know I'm not the only one who still enjoys it. ^_^

For the spongebob lovers

This was requested by Worldofme.
It's more of a collage/wallpaper type of design, I think it turned out fairly well.

I'm back :)

I'm so excited! I'm headed to college in a month if I don't join the military. (It's a long story) but aside from that piece of juicy news...My morals are up and so are my artistic ambitions. Tomorrow work is closed because of a possible hurricane threat. Yippees for no work! Boooo for hurricane! ^_~

Anyways here is my work if you like it, comment me. I can make you your very own customized background layout or picture.

Anyways this is just work that was born out of boredom and randomness.
Peace<3

The photos from the FoodArt08 gallery are finally here!

One week goes by...Nothing.
The next week I sit outside on the porch rocking away on my rocking chair patiently waiting for the mail truck to come by. Holding my head in my hands I eye the corner of the street for any signs or noise of a truck proceeding it's way towards me. "Where is it?!" I murmur under my breath. All of a sudden the white truck appears like a ship bringing salvation, I jump up and anxiously walk and run to the mailman. He hands me a dozen envelopes with the knowledge that I am waiting for something, it's not hard to notice the anticipation in my face, he winks at me and drives away.
Second week....Nothing.
Where could my reward be?! I worked so hard for this...I didn't sleep the night of the photo shoot, Greyhounds as I soon found out are notorious for crying babies and snoring strangers.
I modeled in uncomfortable shoes, tight outfits and in skimpy underwear all for the credit of having been used by Montana Pritchard in his beautiful gallery exhibition. Not only did I do it for the guaranteed credit I could add to my portfolio and the unique experience to work with signed models, but also for the unmatched knowledge that I helped create art and used my body like a canvas to bring beauty and creativity to the artists.

What a great experience! I felt like royalty, we had almost anything we wanted catered to our feet. There was a 6,1" model signed by wilhelmina agency working side by side with me. I'm 5,8" and Alex is 5,8" and we are both 17, Bambi is 5,9" and is 20 years old, and then Kashka is the tallest one and the oldest at 22 or 23.

The third week came quickly but I had in a way given hope of ever seeing the finished product...Maybe I wasn't meant to be a model...Sadly, I didn't e-mail Montana asking him where the photos were anymore...I simply figured he was busy with more important work.

Then one day, my mom called me and the magic words fell out of her mouth. "They are here."
"What is here?" I chirped my heart beating a bit faster.
"Your pictures from that famous photographer are here!"
"Really?!" I exploded, I turned around and with pleading eyes begged my boyfriend to drive me to my mother's house.
In less than an hour we were back at his mother's house and ready to review the pictures. I told him to look away because I wanted to examine them first. He shook his head no and playfully we wrestled for the control of the computer mouse.
Finally the CD was in the drive, and the photos on the screen. We "Ooooh-ed" and "Ahhhh-ed" over the beautiful polished pictures. He turned to look at me and with one hand gently squeezed the shoulder closes to him.
"Jenny, you have the figure and look for this." His eyes twinkled
I smiled, "You think so?"
"Yeah, I don't have any doubts that where we are going you will be hired in the few weeks we dedicate to showing agencies your portfolio."
My smile was enormous now....Yes as my boyfriend he is suppose to be sweet, but this realistic, college graduate wouldn't flatter me unless he was certain I had a chance. His opinions in this business mean a lot since he was a model signed with IMG agency once upon a time ago. Unfortunately at the time he cared more for parties and the college life then his job...He regrets it now but in a way it has opened doors for him just the same.

So would you like to see the photos? Of course you do! (I'm sorry but I resized the original files to a smaller size due to people stealing pictures and not giving credit...Yes we are all guilty of doing it as some time or another so in this manner the temptation is lessen...I did save another file which is a close-up so you could see better where I am in the picture.) I hope you like them this was my first editorial style photo shoot. ^_^

Look what I stumbled upon

For all my art lovers and random web surfers...

I bring you Mr.Picassohead...It's not a brand new website, it has been around for a while but if you didn't know about it and you have time to kill I would go check it out.

I've been in a blue(I'm blue because I'm impatient and I can't wait to start my adventure)/anxious/excited mood lately...2 more weeks till I leave home to drive to a new state and a brand new home. We've been thinking of buying an RV...How cool would that be? It's way cheaper than paying rent every month hahaha. It's just an idea thought.

Anyways I drew 3 pictures and they reflect my mood. Can you tell?

The last one was made for my boyfriend. It's suppose to mean that if he keeps pursuing his dreams he will eventually reach the stars...Or in this case reach the golden bird. I thought a bird was perfect because it's synonymous for freedom and liberty.

Who doesn't wants to be at peace knowing they have reached their goals? I know I hope to one day.

Have you ever had someone whisper...

...that they like your style?

I was in JCPenney (it's a store commonly found in malls) and I was about to have these cute blue jean shorts scanned for pricing when I subconsciously turn around and notice the girl behind me. She looked at me but then her eyes scanned what I was wearing and I watched her turn to her mom and quietly but not shyly whisper to her mom that my outfit is cute.
I turn around feeling like I should pretend like I didn't hear anything...but deep down I was pleased.

Hurray for being someone's fashion inspiration? Either way it was random and completely spontaneous but flattering. What do you guys think of the outfit I'm wearing?

On another note my boyfriend took me out on a date to Celebration Station and I kicked his butt at Lazer tag twice.
Girls rule ^_~

Celebration Station is great for Go-Karts and Lazertron but the arcade isn't equipped with the best games, they are all either too closely positioned so that the noise level from the game next to you is disturbing your concentration or the game is so old it's lost its appeal.

I love the retro 60's-70's look. I guess it has a lot to do with the appeal of the era, everything seemed so much more romantic and free. Computers weren't the norm, and the world still seemed undiscovered as if rules were meant to be broken. Everyone followed their hearts for better or for worse...Ofcourse that is spoken notion of the generation at the time. But I love the spirit...If you haven't seen "Across the Universe" I suggest you watch it if you want to really understand what I'm saying...but like most people I'm sure you've heard of it. Great movie and a lot of designers are still playing with the retro notion. Nina Ricci has more of a down to Earth approach mixed with fantasy, it's kind of enchanting.

But I'm also falling in love with the tribal look. I just feel culture and exoticness flowing out of the models wearing Oscar De La Renta's more traditional outfits.

Maybe I can make a mix it up, I usually wear what my mood tells me to.
So who knows but I feel like shopping tomorrow. ^_~
